To understand what democracy is we first we must always know what are the various kinds of government.

There are various sorts of government that exist in today’s world. Monarchy could be a variety of government during which all powers are within the hands of king and queen whose seat is hereditary. Monarchy is of two types namely, Absolute monarchy and constitutional monarchy.
In Britain, a sort of constitutional monarchy is prevalent. In keeping with this type of state, the king or queen is considered the deceiver. During a constitutional monarchy, the facility of rulers is per the constitution.
Absolute monarchy means the ruler has total control over the state. All powers of state are vested in a very monarch.
Dictatorship means the rule by an unelected and every one powerful dictator. As head of nation, both the monarch and dictator hold absolute power and above the law. they're not accountable to the people. The constitution of India (for example) provides for a democratic sort of government. The government is accountable to the people. A democratic country works well if people freely participate in its governance. The goal of the constitution is to ascertain democracy, socialism and secularism. To attain these goals our constitution has given people a awfully strong and reliable tool. The tool is to determine a democratic style of government. Everyone has the right to participate in it directly or indirectly.
All adult men and ladies who are 18 years or above, have the right to vote to elect their representatives. In doing so, they participate within the governance of the country. Every citizen of the country includes a role in shaping its destiny. Election and vox populi are the 2 important tools of democracy. The essence of democracy in India is equality.
